Craigslist: Missed Connections

Thursday, December 11, 2008 Posted In , Edit This 0 Comments »
So, I flew home last night and my bestest picked me up. I was starving and we went to The Happy Ending Bar, in Hollywood, for some food. They have great food and when you are hungry and aren't thinking straight, the best thing is the easiest. We are sitting at the bar and chatting it up with these cute boys next to us and it goes back and forth for awhile. As they get up to leave, in the back of my mind im thinking give him your number-damn he's freaking adorable, I'm pretty much speechless and he stalls a little asking what we were doing that night etc. They say good-bye and proceed to walk to the door. Misa looks at me and says say something to him and Im just speechless with my ass glued to the seat feeling like a school girl with a crush. When she finally convinced me 2 minutes later I walked outside to the front to see if there was a chance they were still there, no luck :( I walk back to the bar and shook my head to Misa and told her how lame I was....

The best part of the story we get back to my place and a hours later Misa was on Craigslist looking for stuff and she said we should post an ad on Craigslist under Missed Connections and how funny that would be so we did:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mis/953545714.html

The whole concept is pretty cool and if you haven't checked it out for a good chuckle you should. Craigslist is great.

Thought I'd end this with something else for you to laugh at and I think somewhat rings true:

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE
(1) Fine This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
(5) Loud Sigh This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That's Okay This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').
(8) Whatever Is a woman's way of saying F__ K YOU!
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

* Send this to the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology.
* Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause they know it's true

With the holidays going on and New Years around the corner the thing i have notices among my friends is finding the perfect dress to celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year. With the economy so bad and everyone struggling to make ends meet it seems like this would be the last thing on ones mind. Though it isnt. I searched hi and low for dresses I loved and would want to wear during the holidays and new years and brought it to you. Check out www.unique-vintage.com

Universal Feelings By: Dailyom.com

I am a big fan of the dailyom.com. Everyday there is a new Inspirational Topic and I wanted to share the one below.
Universal Feelings
Everything is Relative
-Taken from www.dailyom.com
Every day we hear stories of personal suffering and loss that far exceed our own. When we compare our situations to those of people living in war-torn countries or those who have lost their homes and livelihoods to natural disasters, it is tempting to minimize our own experiences of suffering. We may feel that we don’t have a right to be upset about the breakup of a relationship, for example, because at least we have food to eat and a roof over our heads.
While awareness of the pain of others in the world can be a valuable way to keep our own struggles in perspective, it is not a legitimate reason to disregard our own pain. Disparaging your feelings as being less important than other people's emotions leads to denial and repression. Over time, an unwillingness to experience your own feelings leads to numbness. It is as if our internal systems become clogged with our unexpressed emotions. This in no way helps other people who are suffering in the world. In fact, it may do just the opposite because when we devalue our own sorrow, we become impervious to the sorrow in others.
Fully experiencing our own hurt is the gateway to compassion toward other human beings. Feelings of loss, abandonment, loneliness, and fear are universal, and, in that sense, all feelings are created equal. Regardless of what leads us to feel the way we do, our comprehension of what it means to be human is deepened by our own experiences. Our personal lives provide us with the material we need to become fully conscious. If we reject our emotions because we think our experiences are not dramatic or important enough, we are missing out on our own humanity. We honor and value the human condition when we fully inhabit our bodies so we can experience and feel life fully. Accepting our emotions and allowing ourselves to feel them connects us to all human beings. Then, when we hear the stories of other people’s suffering, our hearts can resonate with understanding and compassion—for all of us.

Movie Recommendation: Slumdog Millionare

Tuesday, December 02, 2008 Posted In , Edit This 0 Comments »

Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle was an amazing independent film. I haven't seen a good movie at the theater in awhile. I didn't know what to expect from this movie but walked away with a broader perspective to other parts of the world that we are so sheltered by. How strong love is and what one would do just for Love.
The story was about a kid named Jamal Malik an orphan from the slums of Mumbai. He is on a show with the nation watching called "Who wants to be a Millionaire". With the 20 questions they ask during the show each question reveals a chapter in Jamal's struggle and how he got to where he is today.
Watch the trailer and don't miss this movie. Its the best 2 hours you can spend. There is also a book that it's based on. I am going to get the book and read it today.

Is the nail salon the new tattoo parlor?

Straight from NYLON MAGAZINE!

INK IT OVER!
Is the nail salon the new tattoo parlor?

If there’s one thing NYLON readers can agree upon, it’s that anything inked is pretty awesome. See: tattoo tights and temporary tattoos.
So we admittedly freaked out over China Glaze’s fall nail polish collection, called Ink, which features colors that look like they were drained straight from the needle at our local tattoo parlor.
There are six regular shades, all named after popular tattoo designs (raise your hand if you have a blue sparrow on your back or a koi fish on your arm), and a special black polish with an ultra-fine brush, so you can add tattoo-inspired prints to your fingers. Or, if your hand-eye coordination is a bit off, you can just stick on one of their nail decals.
And unlike an actual tattoo, if you get sick of the look you can just get out some nail polish remover and start from scratch. Because not even Johnny Depp could have a tattoo forever.

TEMPORARY INSANITY

Wednesday, October 22, 2008 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

Nylon Magazine has done a feature on my temporary tattoos.
I am super stoked and you can see it here.

TEMPORARY INSANITY
Unicorns do exist in Julia Pott's tattoo world.

When it comes to tattoos, there are three schools of thought:
Get a tattoo with meaning that you’ll love forever, get a tattoo with little meaning so that you won’t care about having it forever, or get a temporary tattoo because who the hell knows what they’ll want on their skin forever.
Seeing as my skin is inkless and I’m incredibly indecisive, I’m firmly in the third camp.
But Julia Pott made me an even stronger believer of all things fleeting with her collection of temporary tattoos.
The British illustrator uses pastel colors and fantastical—if not outright innocent—images to bring you back to elementary school, when late-night slumber parties with temporary tattoo application sessions were de rigueur.
There’s a pink unicorn, a bunny next to a rainbow, and even the phrase “I think I love you.” Which is fitting for a temporary tattoo, since if you can’t commit to getting inked you’re probably equally unsure about your romantic feelings.
The only certain thing about her designs is that no matter how carefully you shower and how often you moisturize, the tattoo will eventually peel off. Which is just another reason to order in bulk. Besides, your inked friend may need something to cover up her Chinese symbol tattoo she now regrets.

Why Men Date Down? Written By: Sierra

Why men date down?
By: http://www.myspace.com/sierraolivia

Lately I have been noticing many men dating "down"...meaning dating women not up to their social status...or social influence. My take on this relatively takes a personal stab in the side my general belief on this matter is the men who date down are pussy cheaters. These type of men are manipulative retards that are scared shitless to actually date a women on their corporate level. So, they date say waitresses or my favorite strippers...or college freshmen. They want a girl that is actually going to believe their bullshit and not ask any questions and be submissive...and for you guys out there...the girls like you for your occupations not your humor or your sensitive charm cause you don't have one ...cause they already know you have cheated on them...geez! IDIOTS! If one lets the man get away with shit he will continue to deceive at no mercy.

Ladies beware, these men like power, and control of the relationship thats why they date these woman that are stuck in some dead end job in some shit hole town...and they want someone they can manipulate and someone who is so enamored by ones occupations that they actually let the "occasional" cheating slide and someone who actually believes that they were just out with their guy friends when they didn't pick up the phone instead of trying to pick up some chicks on their recent trip out of town....give me a break. Men have to be one up on the woman they date at all cost!!!!! So, what does a semi-successful ivy league man have in common with a waitress or a stripper...who knows? I was once told he liked these types because they give him instant attention, that men don't have to work for the attention or affection of these type of women...you don't have to chase after them and all that stuff, they know what you do for a living and they just give you attention. What do their conversations entail? how materialistic woman may be because one would rather kill themselves before venturing out in public looking like a prostitute raccoon carrying a Liz Claiborne bag...I am much more of a Marc Jacobs fan and a blk skinny jeans type of a "cunt bitch"...classy language there sweetheart...

This is the deal, I recently got out of the typical sorry ass lying cheater episode pity relationship. One thing after another. The funny thing is, I turned out to be the quote "the psycho cunt"...nice terminology. Actually the problem was I was just too fucking smart and managed to catch him in every single lie to the point I scared the living shit out of that i think I gave him anxiety. When the lying starts everything is game, all ya have to do is simply open up the cell phone and catch the lying schmuck in some insubordinate late night phone calls, cause he is too big of a moron to erase them...I'm sure he learned his lesson by now and is smart enough now to cover his tracks by this time. A relationship that starts with lies and presumes lies is destine for failure. One can forgive, but one rarely forgets. It's funny how relationships like these go, cause at the end he said I was the one who ruined the relationship....ahhh, actually I think the day I found the strippers earing on the floor of his bedroom was what really ruined the relationship...or was it when he decided to immerse himself in hot tub fun with some classy strippers...or was it the day he actually took one out to lunch behind my back the day before he left the country for 2 weeks on a family vacation??? hmm...can't remember...among many other non-mentionable acts of betrayal.

So, here's what I think...men like control, power, money and sex...when they meet their match that is a female version of them, the woman that can look them in the eye and knows exactly when they are telling the truth or not. They know that there is no way in hell this woman (not girl) is going to put up with their shit, unfortunately I did for too long...because I let down my guard and partially do to temporarily insanity...ok, ok...I became a hopeless romantic and I thought I found someone who was strong enough to be with just one person and who wouldn't drop my heart and go behind my back for personal gratification regardless of the storm that it would cause. As they say "He causes the storm to be chased" Men want a submissive partner who holds back on asking questions like "where are you going?" "with who" blah...they want to do what they want, when they want, and who they want...then come back to you when it's convenient. Love is not playing the field until everyone else is sick of your shit, so you decide that you really like the poor girl that is still sticking around regardless of your indiscretions...pathetic.

The point is, I see men like this all the time...they are everywhere...NYC, Miami, LA, even in small towns.....then you have the woman who think they can change them...you can't change them....and when you feel it in your heart that you know they are cheating on you or something just isn't right, listen to your head, cause more than likely they are out banging (or trying to)someone they just met because they think you are dumb enough to never find out. Guys get bored...for instance look at Hugh Grant and Elizabeth Hurley...she is drop dead fucking gorgeous, and he cheats on her with a prostitute named Divine Brown??? whom, yes indeed was brown...but fucking hideous!!!!! Or Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen...again with a prostitute...and Denise again beautiful...Christie Brinklie and her asshole husband the list goes on....or again my favorite shocker Great Britain's IT girl Sienna Miller whom in my opinion is one of the most stunning people whom I have actually seen in per on while working with ELLE gets cheated on by Jude Law with the nanny...what a scumbag.

Once a cheat always a cheat. My ex actually told me quote "you are absolutely beautiful, but I cannot promise you that I can be faithful to you...I cannot break anymore promises to you" he went on to say that it wasn't just me that he doesn't think he is capable to be faithful to anyone...that he doesn't think he can get married. After he said that I fell to my knees, I was at work...I had to leave. I had to leave work many times among the turmoils of this relationship. I still care deeply about my ex, and I am positive that I always will and deep down I will always love this man because we did share some really true times together and all I want for him is to be happy, but I thank him for not getting back together with me because I know he would have hurt me again...and cheated...as he did the new girl he is dating, but she didn't seem to care or maybe she is in jaded by the visions of a future with this prominent occupation that he beholds...or a way out of the "ghetto". Behavior that is repetitive is just that doomed to repeat itself. Every single one of these men as a history of cheating...it wasn't a first I just don't think people understand how devastating it actually is. So, for many months I blamed myself...but ya know what...I am flippin hot...and I do not resemble a man. Thank god.

Relationships are tough, sleep with people you don't love and love the people you don't sleep with. Am I immature, of course...sometimes.....but what else is a cunt bitch supposed to do when she's not being materialistic and waiting for planes, trains and automobiles all day long. Look, love is overrated...it hurts...it's can be great at times....it can sting, it can heel, it can be deadly, it can make you cry an ocean of tears, it can make you feel that you can't go on, it can make you feel as if you have lost everything,it can kill you, it can make you breathe, it can make you feel alive again....love is the most powerful thing in this universe...so when you find it hold onto and never let it go and when it doesn't respect you or take your feelings into consideration...do yourself a favor and walk away and don't excuse the pain of a broken heart. I fell in love and I forgot who I was and whom I am supposed to become..but that time when it was good, it was the time of my life...as for now, I have no regrets...memories are made to be forgotten and some are meant to stay and the memories that are meant to stay were great ones because at one time I was madly in love.

My life has been glamorous as well as heart breaking...Nothing that I have ever said or written has been glorified....I went through many heartbreaks in NYC, even one absolutely gorgeous Calvin Klein model(by the way who went to JULIARD and brother went to Harvard LAW) who serenaded me with the Villon...problem was it was 8 am and I had a raging hangover... to the point that i couldn't get out of bed...to the point where I thought i lost it all or hi..or maybe just the idea of what I thought it would be like to pretend to be something that i was simply not. I have cried, I have shopped to the point that $1,500 bags have become a normal purchase to the point of not even batting an eyelash at the check out counter. My last relationship really opened my eyes, we went through a lot...I really realized an immature asshole was perhaps the love of my life...it was real, we were really in love, but all wrong for whatever reasons. As much as I blamed myself, it wasn't me...after all it wasn't me who pushed him into the arms of another etc. Now, I realize that...and today i laugh because he is sitting at a lame sports bar watching sports in the clothes that I bought for him still wondering what conch is....because NO it is NOT crab meat! And now i realize that i wasn't ready to be the wife of someone that overall would choose his friends, sports and more than likely not answer his phone when he goes to Jacksonville and try to hook up with girls and stay at random hotels, but say he stayed with his friends....I realized that i want someone who i deserve...someone who tells me that he can be faithful to me forever.

Basically, ladies...lets face it....you are crying now over some douche bag....trust me, the girl your ex is dating now has nothing on you it could be a lot worse!!!! she isn't prettier than you, she isn't smarter than you, she isn't more educated or wealthier than you etc and the best part is she is everything that your ex complained about for instance the too blonde and too much eyeliner ...look, Since my breakup I have met the most amazing people..I have spent 2 weeks in Puerto Rico, been to the Bahamas, new York, going to Italy, Greece, Miami, on Yachts, North Carolina having a blast for a month.....I have made tons of new friends and what has he done...and gone to numerous fashion events...Jimmy Choo, Saks 5th Avenue, Dolce & Gabbana , Tommy Hilfiger, The Hampton's..I gave into love and when it was good it was really good and he was part of my family and yes there are times when my cousins and I are walking on the beach picking shells and they ask if i miss him and I say "yes" I miss the good times....I miss the laughter and his family as well....but one day as long as i am patient the right one will come along...all the rest were all just practice;)...or maybe he will realize what they lost and they come back...ya never know what life has in store when it comes to matters of the heart...so go buy some shoes and look in the mirror....you are FABULOUS!!!!! and men like this just have a thing for girls they can tip...strippers and waitresses...it's a form of control....they love having the "one-up" on who they date so they date down! They know the poor waitress or the not so pretty girl isnt going to leave them no matter what they do...it's a sense of security to menlike this....so again...stop crying and start shopping! Live fast, die pretty and shop harder!!!! xoxo, S

A Love Blog, or Lack Their of - Written By: Tammy

Thursday, September 04, 2008 Posted In , Edit This 0 Comments »

The key to a good relation is trust, honesty, and just calling my boyfriends "hey man" because even I have trouble keeping up with their names at times.
So I said I would blog about my love life. My friends know me as a player so I would listen (well read) into this too seriously.
My dates are usually alot of fun. This Labor Day weekend, I flew into Chicago to have boyfriend No 6 pick me up at the airport and take me out for lunch at the Grand Lux. I tested him with a little shopping and then got some videos of Chicago street entertainers. Dont Forget To Tip the street people. If you try to take a picture of the tin man, he breaks routine and holds up a sign saying stop taking my picture or tip me damn it! Ok, back to no 6. Pulling into a parking spot, he slams into the support beams and says quietly, "did i just hit that?" "Um no you slammed it. Were you starring at my boobs or what?" Thats going to be a new bumper and a $28 parking charge. I felt so bad for him. What a first date including a trip to PoPo's place for a report. Then to make his date even worse, he had to drop her off at No. 4's apartment one block north of Lake Michigan's North Ave Beach in Downtown Chicago.

No. 4 was at a bachelor party earlier that day leaving me time to catch up with no. 6. Upon returning home, slightly ok crazily buzzed, me and no. 4 gets some dinner. The best part of my night was when he said, "this chicken is good." "What chicken? That in my miso soup? You know that's not chicken right. Its Tofu." He said it tasted like chicken and I advised he take another bite slowly. I feel he was cultured by the evening and learned he might just like Tofu even if he never admits it again. Fraternity Boys are Abercrombie Hot! So we enjoyed a rooftop Cubs Game, a day at the beach, lots of vodka, a bottle of wine, a killer view of the city, and a house party where all the peeps were checking me out and one chic actually told my date that if he didn't get me out of there she was taking me. Well, she was hot but I haven't crossed that fence yet.

The best date of the week was with No. 3 (he has since moved up 2 spots since no 2 and no 3 slipped down a few spots). Me and No. 2 ~ I mean No. 3, we kept it simple and to the point, a movie, hot chocolate, banana chocolate Vivanno, and lots of conversation. The key to a good romance.

Old No. 3 couldn't handle the truth and got kicked off the list of boyfriends and/or potentials. He can be super nice and is rock n roll, so I hope he stays on the friend list. Since we didn't actually make out or anything to cross that friend line, it could work.

No. 2 I'm afraid he hasn't kept me totally clued into what he's feeling and has going on with his other relations, therefore leaving me questioning his love for Tammy. I don't like to question, so I would rather move on. I'm not totally taking him off the list but for now, he has slipped down a few slots. Luckily for him, the making out is so much fun!

Let's not forget the pilot who turned me on in the Ford GT 500 who hasn't been given a number yet, but I'm anxiously awaiting his debut into my love life.

No. 1 is still out there and doing really well for himself! I think of him always and wish him well. His beautiful smile makes him glow and gives me warmth. He happily is going to be my No 1 until I get swept off my feet by Prince Charming, who outranks all my boyfriends with numbers.

Live in Love Always,

PS. Pierre and Louie will always be the guys getting to sleep with me every night and have my heart forever! (Their my cats, get your minds out of the gutter)

Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon- Ace Young

Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Posted In , Edit This 0 Comments »

Over the weekend I was able to watch the Jerry Lewis Telethon and call in a donation to help find a cure. For anyone that watched the telethon you were able to understand what these people go through that have ALS and how incredibly strong and inspiring these individuals are. Making the little things that we bitch about seem so insignificant. Please realize how blessed you are and if you can in anyway give back to help someone to not think twice about it.
My good friend Ace Young supports Jerry's Kids and co-hosted Sunday night as well as performed a song, Redeem Me, from his album. He got to show off his new haircut which i love by the way. There were many great artists and acts that support the telethon each year. I hope that everyone marks their calendar to watch it next year.
Go buy his album at Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/Ace-Young/dp/B001781JT0/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1220395610&sr=8-1
You can also see him on Broadway in Grease starting Sept 9, 2008.

So, for those who don't know about MDA stands for Muscular Dystrophy Association. MDA.org is a voluntary health agency -- a dedicated partnership between scientists and concerned citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans.

Direct from their site on what they are about: http://www.mda.org/about.html

MDA combats neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. With national headquarters in Tucson, MDA has more than 200 offices across the country, sponsors 225 hospital-affiliated clinics and supports nearly 400 research projects around the world.
MDA supports more research on neuromuscular diseases than any other private-sector organization in the world. MDA scientists are in the forefront of gene therapy research and have uncovered the genetic defects responsible for several forms of muscular dystrophy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease), childhood spinal muscular atrophy, and several other neuromuscular conditions.
The Association's comprehensive service program includes medical examinations, flu shots, support groups, MDA summer camps for youngsters and assistance with purchase of wheelchairs and leg braces.
MDA was created in 1950 by a group of adults with muscular dystrophy, parents of children with muscular dystrophy, and a physician-scientist studying the disorder. Since its earliest days it has been energized by its number-one volunteer and national chairman, entertainer Jerry Lewis.
The Association's programs are funded almost entirely by individual private contributors. MDA seeks no government grants, United Way funding or fees from those it serves.

Zappos.com Partners with Bullitt Co Public Schools

Tuesday, August 12, 2008 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

Its Back To School Time, who's ready?

Back To School Season kicks off every year and I'm still not convinced who is excited about it. Kids know their summer fun is wrapping up, parents know their bank accounts are about to take a hit, and teachers know their vacations are almost over. The good news is that our children have a chance to make a difference in their lives and move on in hopes of having successful beginnings.

The Back To School season kicked off for Zappos.com in the Zappos Outlet Store (I-65, Exit 116) a few weeks ago. The outlet team is having a school supply and shoe drive. Employees and customers can give to the drive and received discounts and chances to win great prizes. More importantly, the collections go to families in need throughout Bullitt County.

On Wednesday August 6, 2008, Zappos.com announced its partnership with Bullitt County Public School Systems. Zappos Outlet Store gave 20 children two pairs of shoes and a back pack filled with school supplies. After the children had their "Christmas in August" surprise, Zappos.com had another surprise. Zappos.com will donate $30,000 to BCPS. The money given in two installments can be used for programs that will benefit every student. For example, new computer lab, new playground, new facility upgrades, but has to be a benefit used by every student. The donation will be placed in a fund and the individual schools can prepare a request for an amount up to $5000.

In addition, Zappos.com employees will work with the BCPS, to help mentor and support the students. Plans are still being worked out, but basically the school system is asking the Zappos.com employees to help in areas of math, reading, and showing an interest in the local kids.

I'm very excited to see how many lives we can touch with this partnership. As a kid, I was actually a math nerd so bring the students my way; I would love to help students learn to love school and find the next TammyTV.

Thanks for making a difference!

Whats up with Restaurant Servers TODAY?

Friday, August 08, 2008 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
What’s up with restaurant servers today?

All the good servers please stand up!

Last week while vacationing in Las Vegas, I stopped by an upscale hotel for a quick bite to eat. Our server, middle aged blond lady, obviously on some sort of drug as her hands shaking and large round eyes proved to be a tale tell sign. You know I'm impressed that a crack head kept herself together so well. I always thought people under the influence of strong stimuli would eventually fail to take care of themselves. Not this server, hair peice, perfectly lined eye make up, nice tan, good skin, something a man in his mid life crisis period would jump all over. She looked to have "gold digger" written all over here with the way she was put together but none the less, on drugs and had done drugs while on the 20 minute break when we couldn't find her or right before she clocked in. Anyway lady, keep your role on but please try to get some sleep every now and then!

Tonight at Hooters in Louisville KY (I know this story isn't going to shock you now), a young server took an order of a group of nicely dressed, fairly good looking males with a BABY on her hip. You got it right, I said an infant child was posted her hip as if to say, "what I couldn't get a baby sitter and little junior here can't stay home by himself yet, he is only 2. Now when's he's 6 I'm guessing it will be ok." Are you kidding me? I'm all about a young woman taking care of her family, but did you really have to bring the baby to work with you? Plus, where is the manager? Oh, that was the manager's baby? Now, that makes sense why there was no soap in the lady's bath room. She must have done the baby's laundry at work and used it all. So that's mean of me to say, but come on people. When you decide to manage a business, work becomes your priority and that includes the customer's experience. When dining at the world famous Hooters, I expect, smiling faces, a clean establishment, good food, short shorts, boobs taking my orders, and no kids please. I mean after all, I came in trying to get an upset stomach from the killer buffalo shrimp I'm about to eat not the crying baby!

Fit Kids of Louisville help fight obesity

Monday, August 04, 2008 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
How many of us know a child battling obesity causing health issues and self esteem problems?

Most of us, I'm sure. That's one of the reasons I'm thankful the Louisville area has Amy Oetken, co-founder of Fit Kids Family Wellness. Amy and a partner started Kid Fit and sold to Baptist Hospital in Dec. 2007 to grow the program. Although the program seems easy, switching over to behaviors that result in a healthier lifestyle may not come easy. Society is now designed to be fast, easy, not always giving the healthiest choices. It takes planning and most of all commitment. However, the benefits make it seem a no brainer when choosing to adopt a new healthier lifestyles.

What does Amy suggest? Exercise, smarter nutritional choices, shopping for healthy foods then immediately preparing proper feeding portions, and maintainng a healthy but fun approach to living better and hopefully longer. She urges the entire family to adopt this lifestyle, practice together, and support one another. Kids can't see their parents eating unhealthy or guess what, chances are they will too.

The Kid Fit program is an 11 week program where families arrive to weigh in, break into kids exercise lessons, parent support and training groups, and finally a family fun cooking class. This week fiber was the topic. Benefits to a healthy high fiber diet include but are not limited to: a healthy digestive system, reduced rist of some cancers, reduces the risk of heart disease, helps lower cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of type II diabetes, as well as making you feel full longer. Foods high in fiber are nuts, beans, blackberries, pears, sweet potatoes, fiber one cereal (Amy's favorite), oatmeal, veggies, and whole grains. Raspberries have the highest amount of dietary fiber. It is important to increase the amount of water you drink as you increase the fiber. It helps keeps things flowing smoothly. Also, it is best to not increase fiber intake by large portions, it may cause excess time spent in restrooms and it won't be time spent fixing your hair or make-up.

For more information on Kid Fit program, recipes for getting more fiber in your diet, or finding ways to teach your kids to have a healthier lifestyle please call Amy at Kid Fits direct line 502-753-7543 or contact TammyTV at myspace.com/watchtammytv.

Video interview and tips coming soon. Also, stay tuned as I will take some of Amy's high fiber recipes and make them at home.

Yours in maintaining a healthy open mind,

TammyTV

A night of music at HOTEL CAFE w/ Lelia Broussard

I love this SONG! HIPSTER BITCH-

So, I went to Hotel Cafe in Hollywood last night and there were a lineup of amazing indie artists. Again, I never have been there and had no idea what to expect when I got there. It was a Saturday night and Misa and I figured we would go listen to some tunes and go watch movies and drink wine, total girls night!

Lelia's set was about 40 minutes and there is nothing hotter then a girl that can sing with a guitar and sound as pure as she did. I am that type of girl that doesnt follow words but feels the music behind it. But for some reason last night was different. I heard ever thing that Lelia sang and it rang in my mind after I left. Her words were so powerful and moving that it made me tear up. As if she was singing to me directly. There are a few artists out there that have that impact on me and Lelia is now there with one of my other favorite artist INDIA ARIE!

During the set I would occasionally look over and touch Misa's shoulder and with her look I knew she was as moved as I was.

It is great to see talented people that are so passionate about what they do that when they sing that the whole room feels it. This young artists deserves to be recognized and loved... As of last night I am now a Lelia Broussard follower.

Check out her Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/leliabroussard
If you live in Los Angeles you need to go see her live. The music on her myspace page and youtube are amazing but seeing her live takes you to a whole new level. There you can expirience what I was talking about earlier.

Zappos Vendor Party - Freezing HOTT!

Friday, August 01, 2008 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
Zappos.com, my employer, hosts an annual Vendor Party for WSA in Las Vegas. This year a record 3000 people were invited (and they all showed for this killer bash except those who had terrible flight accommodations and couldn't). The spot for this year's party was Rain Nightclub in the Palms Resort. Off the hookness! Sexy, Sexy, Sexy entertainment from the fire shows, to girls in bikinins dancing on boxes to girls in sno goddess fits passing out some cocktails. There were FREE drinks for everybody and 5 of the sexiest little penguins I've ever seen (and got to pet). Don't be mad Pam Anderson. The animals were given lots of love and care; they had a trainer with them 24/7 to make sure they were enjoying themselves too. They had a blast swimming in the outside pool area. Of course you know its Fire and Ice in the Palms, so Zappos heated the place up! then cooled all their guests off with chilly drinks, alcoholic sno cones ( wait, maybe I'm the alcoholic not the snow cones), and a few more drinks, well and shots! We know how to party! So the moral of the story is that I have the best job in the world!! Play, drink, play some more, drink alot more, then work. I love what I do and do what I love. I have always loved everything I've done for Zappos because this company truly gets customer service and employee appreciation. After the party on Sunday night, I'm willing to bet some of our vendors might vouch that we have vendor appreciation as well.

Following the party was an afterparty in the Palms Suite for a small group of the pals (well it was intended to be a small party and things have a way of getting out of hand). First of all before I run off on another ramble, Can I just say that I want to live in the Palms Suites forever? I would actually clean my room if it looked like that. A huge living room area, kitchens/bars, 2 bedrooms, 4 complete bathrooms, half baths, work out room, sauna, dining room (stocked with catering~yummies like mushroom ravioli and you know what I don't remember what else we had but it was damn good), and a hot tub built for everyone in attendance that overlooked the strip. Yep, I got down in my lil red bikini and partied like a rock star! For those of you that I might have asked to leave at the end of the night, please don't be mad at me. It was getting late and I was requested to do so. I wish we had all night and the rest of my life to party but please note: If TammyTV makes it, we will! and you will be invited.

PS. when I snap out of my coma, I will upload videos and photos.

Trying to recover from an incredible party,

Last Night- Zappos Vendor Party

Monday, July 28, 2008 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

So,this will be my first blog ever and I'm very excited to enter the world of "blogging" and share my thoughts and things that are going on in my world. For these who are wondering what Vintage Girls Club is? It is going to be an online store featuring vintage finds that I come across and want to share with all the girls out there that have a love for vintage like myself.

Well on to other things. I went to the Zappos Vendor Appreciation Party last night and it was so much fun. It was held at the Palms last night- Club Rain and the pool area. The theme was fire and Ice which was pretty neat how it was broken up and the acts that they had to really bring the theme to life. Inside Rain there were fire dancers, people doing acrobatic things in the air and good music. Outside in the pool area they passed out vodka ice cones and had amazing ice sculptures like the one in the right hand corner. Girls dressed as cute eskimos and we can't forget the PENQUINS swimming in the pool!!! They were adorable. For those that are thinking if the penquins were ok with the heat, YES! They were South African Penquins. Can't forget the good beats from DJ88, she rocks!

All and all it was a fabulous night and everyone had a good time. Zappos always brings it when it comes to parties and showing appreciation to all the vendors that are on their website. If you haven't shopped on Zappos.com it is by far the best place to go to. They have an amazing customer service team and the best is the quick shipping!

It is WSA week and a busy one so I gotta go.
